I write what follows, with glowing heart!

I've managed to find a few interesting tidbits of Canadiana that I would like to share with you. The first is the proposed Canadian flag pictured above. Of all those pictured on the net, this is the one I liked the most. Something else of note is the recent completion of an eleven year project to create the world's most Canadian guitar. They combined parts of . . .

* Louis Riel's schoolhouse
* John A. Macdonald's liquor cabinet
* The Bluenose II
* Maurice Richard's 1955-56 Stanley Cup ring
* Pierre Trudeau's canoe paddles
* Cape Race lighthouse (received the distress signal from the doomed Titanic)

. . . and SO MUCH more. Each element represents a story, and I hope to hear/see/read some of them on their website in the near future.

My third factoid isn't quite as esoteric. It's the CBC radio one. I've been extolling the virtues of this station for years, and despite some recent changes designed to attract a broader audience, I still think it's the best thing on the airwaves.

Tempus fugit v.I

Sometimes being bored at work can be dangerous. Sometimes you don't feel so good and you just need to do your own thing. Sometimes listening to music helps. You just need to make sure things don't get out of control and always remember the importance of family. Other times you just need to kill some time. No matter what the situation, the most important thing to remember is to focus on the positive and not sweat the small stuff.

In the summertime when the weather is hot . . .

Two days ago Shabudabu and I had a great idea. Going to Earl Haig was terrific. Being jostled and bumped by 1000 spashing children was a bit tiresome, but once they left floating in the lazy river was sublime. Shabudabu got a little sun burned, but she claims it doesn't hurt.

After the water park, Jim and I drank (and spilled) quite a bit of red wine. Somehow in my enebirated state, I forgot that I wasn't at the water park, and dumped a big glass of water over my head. Unfortunately I was talking on my cell phone at the time. I blow dried it, and everything seems to have worked out ok. I even managed to get the wine stains out of my white shorts and new shirt.

Then last night, ShannJamm, Shabudabu, and I kidnapped Jim and drove him, blindfolded, all the way to Hess Village. Following that we met Sweet William and some cohorts in the Harvest Burger. Apparently they had been drinking all night in a stretch limo and had just stopped for a second to grab a bite to eat.

Tonight I'm supposed to go out again to Brando's to meet Amandalina. I look forward to that, but even more so, I look forward to the preceding nap.

Does this bike make my butt look fast?

Yesterday Shabudabu and I went for a bike ride. We passed the ‘dead end’ and rode deep into the forest. There was a poison ivy scare followed by an important talk on a tree stump. By that time it was dark and we were running out of wild rhubarb. We had no choice but to ride back home, through the woods, in the dark. All was well, until we came across a tree which had fallen directly into our path home. Then Shabudabu fell off her bike and when she got up, her bike gears got jammed. The fun didn’t stop there though and as we rode I failed to notice a large metal baracade and biked head long into it. Immediately following that rather painful mishap, I careened directly into a garbage can after discovering my last collision had altered the functionality of my breaks.

The rest of the ride home was blissfully uneventful!

Gettin’ artsy

Sometimes I just feel like being creative. Sometimes the product of these random inspirations is less than spectacular. Recently I made this little piece to hang on my wall. I like the way it turned out and I might make more. We’ll see. Maybe if I make enough, I can convince other people to hand them on their walls as well.

Oh . . .
. . . an update to my series of posts regarding writing letters . . .

. . . I finally got around to writing letters to B.C., Italy, and Nigeria. Perhaps I’ll have to break down and join facebook, in order to find my British pals.

Could it be? Am I S.O.L.?

I phoned good ol' GSS today, and found that there are no records of past exchange program participants. Sadly, I think I have lost, forever, the contact information of my pals from Kent England.

Despite this belief, there are a couple of avenues of recovery that remain open to me. I wasn't the only one who went on the exchange, and thus have a number of other people I could ask for addresses. Unfortunately, the last time I talked to most of them was Highschool. Compounding this problem is the fact that I've forgotten a lot of their names.

This is NOT going to be easy, but it WILL be worthwhile.

A couple of downers

Black Pepper Jack showed my this tonight, and now I'm showing it to you. I hope you enjoy!

He also played this.

Shiggidy Shwat?

It’s always nice when someone makes you something that let’s you know you’ve been on their mind. There are other times, when you wonder why it is someone made you whatever it was they made you. This was the case with a couple of music videos Shabu made for me this week. Take a look and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Video 1 Video 2

Thanks Shabudabu, these videos made me smile.

Buskin' Baby!

I dig buskers. Recently I was able to attend the Dundas Busker Festival and it was a hell of a time. (even though I ended up going alone) I am going to make it a point to attend other city's Busker Fests this summer, and I might even start practicing my juggling and magic. Skills which for the past 7 years have been sorely neglected.

Just an average day.

Working at the mall isn't as easy as people think. Check this out and you'll know what I mean.
