Yo, peep this G.C. Silverthorn!

Today, upon gazing from the window of fair Shabudabu’s apartment, I noticed a huge car show had sprung up since my arrival. We decided to check it out and MAN, am I ever glad we did!! As we got close to the end of Colborne Street I noticed there was a table outside the military surplus store. Upon that table sat a beautiful tri-corn hat. To my dismay it was stained and didn’t fit my head. To my eternal delight I was informed that there were more tri-corns inside. By more, they meant one. The second one fit and that’s one that I purchased.

Now if I could only find out what I did with my
DAMN VESTS!!!

What's goin' on?

I wish I had fabulous secret powers. I would sing pretty much anything if I knew it would result in their bestowal upon me. Even this!

A lad's night out

Last night some friends and I went to Sammy's Recroom, a sports bar in West Brant. The place is fantastic for two reasons, the first being the fantastic food. The second reason why this bar/restaurant is so great is fact that the great food is relatively inexpensive. Affordable, great tasting food. How can you go wrong!?

Following dinner we all hit Jumbo Video to grab a movie. I spent my time in the $4.99 previously viewed DVD section. They actually had some really good sounding stuff. We ended up not renting anything, and watching one of the movies I bought (I bought two and got one free!!) called 'The Yes Men'. It was actually really good, and got me thinking more activist like thoughts. I figure if you can combine important political/social messages with the sort of innocent Amelie-esk sense of positive surprise and curiosity, you'll have a pretty good formula for making positive change.

Tonight, I get to see Shabudabu and watch another section of Tom Jones. I'm really looking forward to spending some time with my other half, as it's been a few days since I've been able to.

The life and times of a street walker.

Some of you may have noticed (although it would appear nobody’s been to my blog in the past couple of days) that the Photo Album link to the right, although functioning, links to no new pictures. That’s my bad. I updated my blog yesterday before I found I couldn’t get my pictures uploaded, then had to dash. Sorry if it caused anyone (seriously is anyone there?!?) any confusion. I got closer to actually finding words for what I was trying to write yesterday, but in the end they still managed to elude me. In their place I’ve decided to tell/show you some of the cool things I’ve seen the past couple of days wandering through random neighbourhoods while at work.

My first day at work we watched a heritage building burn to the ground. Coming from Brantford I was able to empathise with the locals but didn’t feel overly impressed.
The following week I watched a monarch butterfly feeding on a scotch thistle so I took a picture. Then I noticed on the next thistle there were two other monarchs getting it on. Luckily the paparazzi never sleep and I was able to capture their precious exchange on my camera phone!
Today I saw a robin hunting a butterfly. I’ve never seen a robin fly with such purpose before. We’ve all seen robins and we’ve all seen them fly, but when they’re hunting butterflies, that’s a whole different story! They dart all over the place cutting through the air in THE EXACT same flight pattern as their prey. I’ll be honest, this sight was pretty awesome.
(sorry, no picture available)

A little later in the day I was able to watch storm clouds roll in, and then saw them twist and separate before turning to rain and falling to the ground. The sounds of rolling thunder and bolts of lightening kind of makes you feel electric inside. Storms are always awe inspiring if you’re in the right mind set.

Nouveux Photos

I had so much to write, but each time I tried to record it I found myself unable to. I’m sure It’ll come out when it’s ready to, but in the mean time check out my Photo Album link on the right. It’s finally online again and I’ve been able to upload some new stuff!!

Fiesta Del Brantford

Elena’s going away party was fantastic. It didn’t quite turn out like I thought it would, but it was a barrel of laughs. It was a pan-Spanish/Hawaiian theme. Everyone was wearing leighs and sunglasses, while we smacked a piñata. For some reason Lenny wore a wicked sombrero and Sweet William dressed up as a Gaucho. Everything was going great, until some pervert accosted Shabudabu on her way home (which was only a three block walk), and tried to get her to join him in his car while he was masturbating. Way to put a damper on a party jackass.

Jumping Jehosaphat

Everyone HAS to check this out. It was apparently inspired by a movie. A movie which I haven't yet, but plan to someday, see.

The Inconvenient Truth

This afternoon Shabudabu and I watched a really interesting movie at the Rainbow Cinamas. It was called ‘The Inconvenient Truth’ and was essentially a slide show presented by Al Gore. Not knowing anything about Al Gore I was surprised to learn about his life long commitment to stopping global warming. The film really illustrates clearly the planetary changes as a result of global warming, and the human repercussions if we continue on in the direction we’re currently headed.

I don’t know how much longer it’s playing in B-Dot, but I encourage everyone to see it as soon as they can.

"Money is something you have to make in case you don't die." -Max Asnas

The mathematics of Universal Power. (The following mathematics are based on the number of contracts signed which aren’t cancelled for 60 days)

Day 1: $ 145
Day 2: $ 90

Total : $ 235 or about $ 17 an hour

Day 3: $ 30

Total : $ 265 or about $ 11 an hour

Day 4 has yet to be determined, but I hope upon hope that it’s a lot more like day 1 and a whole lot less like day 3.

At last, a moment.

The past few days have been a whirlwind. Things all started on Canada day, I rode my bike to the park and started taping people to their stilts. (There was a world record attempt for those of you who don’t know) I thought there would be people at the festival that I knew. I was mistaken. I ended up spending the day with a cool Spanish girl named Elena. The next day Shabu and I went to a really awesome music festival in Toronto and saw Amadou et Miriam perform their music live on a beautiful outdoor waterfront stage. After that we ate some ethnic food and shopped in the great international marketplace that had been built of tents.

The next day I hiked 20 kilometres of the Bruce Trail with my brother and his pal. Then I started a new job which is fantastic and allows me to travel around and work at my own pace. That brings us to last night, and the Brantford International Villages festival. We got a whole gang together and danced and drank the night away.

At about 4am this morning, as I got ready for bed, it hit me. . . I am REALLY tired!
